Past Grand Commander Deceased:

I'm sorry to say, but the Grand of MI has lost a Past Grand Commander. Stanley Kapanowski Grand Commander 1998 - 1999 passed away last week. His wife Wendy Called me last night. It was Stan's wishes not to have a ritual or any fuss. Stan has been ill for some time, his wife Wendy said he wanted all his accumulated hospital equipment and supplies to be donated to needy veterans, preferably an Iraqi or Afghan Veteran. anyone in need can contact Wendy Kapanowski at 248-588-6877. Wendy would also like to have a wake in Stans memory, It may be scheduled around February 26, that would have been Stans 71st birthday.

Greetings MOC and MOCA;

Our Grand President Shirley Feirer has request I remind all our Cooties and their Aux Ladies the following. The MOCA Audit is scheduled for 9am Sunday, Jan 15th, 2012 at VFW Post 2358. Their meeting will start at 10am. MOC Grand of Michigan C/A, audit at 11:00 am, Meeting at 12 noon.

Also, please remember we have our Cootie Christmas at the VFW National Home coming up. I am told we do not have a lot of people sign up for the dinner after our activities at the home.

Housing at Quality Inn Suites, 901 Commerce Drive off West Saginaw St., Lansing, MI 48917, for reservations phone 517-886-0600 or 800-456-6431 mention “Cooties” when making your reservations to get the $79.00/night rate Rooms are suites and can sleep 5, and comes with fridge, micro wave, and a complimentary full cooked to order breakfast for all guests and an evening social hour. Hotel transportation from Lansing Airport is available on request. The Christmas Party starting at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday morning. Grand of Florida will be serving a lunch at 12:30 p.m.
National Home Christmas Party Banquet, at 6:00 p.m. back at the Hotel is $35.00/person . Reserve banquet Tickets by check to Naida Schelter, 9750 Riverside Drive, Grand Ledge MI 48837, 517-626-6942. The Grand Convention has been moved from VFW Post 4249 9075 Mason Dr. Newaygo to VFW Post 701 123 N. Rosemary St. Lansing, MI. 48917. Housing will be available at Quality Suites Hotel in Lansing. This is the same hotel we will be using for the Cootie Christmas. The rate will be the same as Cootie Christmas too. $79.00 per night for 5 person suite. Continental breakfast is included with your room. Cut-off date is Friday, May 18, 2012 and mention Military Order of the Cooties or MOC.
